The Corn Poppy (Papaver rhoeas) is an annual flowering plant native to Europe and Asia. This delicate, cup-shaped flower features four petals in a vibrant shade of red, with a distinctive black center. Corn Poppies thrive in well-drained soil and full sun, often growing as a weed in agricultural fields, meadows, and along roadsides.

how to grow corn poppy seeds?
Step 1: Prepare the Soil
Corn Poppies love well-draining soil that's rich in organic matter. Mix in some compost or manure to give your soil a nutrient boost. The ideal pH range for these lovely flowers is between 6 and 7

Step 2: Sow the Seeds
Sow your Corn Poppy seeds directly into the ground in early spring or fall, about 1/8 inch deep and 2-3 inches apart. Cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil and gently firm it down. Water the soil gently but thoroughly.

Step 3: Provide the Right Conditions
Corn Poppies need full sun to partial shade, so choose a spot that gets at least 6 hours of direct sunlight. Keep the soil consistently moist during the first few weeks after sowing. Once established, they're relatively drought-tolerant.

Step 4: Thin and Care
Once the seedlings emerge, thin them out to 6-8 inches apart to give them room to grow. Keep the area weed-free and water them regularly. You can also add a balanced fertilizer to promote healthy growth.

Step 5: Enjoy Your Blooms!
After about 60-90 days, you'll be rewarded with an explosion of delicate, papery blooms in shades of pink, white, and red. Deadhead the flowers regularly to encourage more blooming and prevent self-seeding.
